5/25/2021 0 Comments Modern Mystery School: A cult? This past weekend I was in New Hampshire, at a beautiful retreat center, leading a group of about 75 students across the ABYSS, the separating chasm between the world of humans and the world of spirit.
Within the Abyss are held all of humanity's (and each individual student's) fears, doubts, self-destructiveness, addictions, chaos, misery, suffering, and much much more of the "dark side" of life. To reach the Crown of the Self, the highest energy available to a human, we each must face and overcome all of that dark side, for it is part of the structure of our world. To overcome it and enter into the energy of "Heaven" or the world of pure, unformed spirit, gives the student permanent access to a new spark of their divinity. During this time, an article was published in a well-known (albeit clickbait, trashy and slanderous) online magazine, bashing this work I have done for 16 years in the Modern Mystery School. I did not know what to say. Dismiss the claims in the article would be easiest — because they run the gamut from serious (but untrue in my experiences), to distorted, to just plain "ok, whatever, that's your opinion on life". The article was written in such a way as to make the most sacred things we do at the Modern Mystery School seem ridiculous, like a sacred 3-day vision quest we do for the final Ritual Master initiatory step. And much more. I just can't stand silently by and know that "this too shall pass"...because it will, but at what cost? Some of the allegations are very serious — misuse of power to gain sexual advantage, sexual harassment, and grooming another individual for coercive sex. I take these allegations very seriously both personally and professionally. I can say for myself that if I had ever personally witnessed or seen anything like this, I would be not only upset — I would be completely intolerant. Years ago, a student at Modern Mystery School Boston was occasionally acting in a sexually suggestive and harassing way toward female students. We warned him to stop, and, when he did not, we barred him from attending classes. For 16 years now, I have built my entire adult life on the Magick I have learned with the Modern Mystery School. The teachers I have encountered and have the immense honor of working with have incredible hearts, high integrity, and have dedicated their lives in service to humanity and God. The Founder of the School who opened it to the public back in 1997, Gudni Gudnason, has been my personal guide, mentor, and teacher for the last 10 years of that time, since 2011. His love, care and attention to who I am as a human being, my growth, progression, self-mastery, enlightenment, awareness, and literally every aspect of myself I could ever have wanted to develop — all of this is why and how I am who I am today. The assistance of the other men and women mentioned in the article, especially Ipsissimus Dave Lanyon and Ipsissimus Hideto Nakagome, and many of the women on the Goddess Council and other senior leadership attacked in this article have also all been instrumental mentors, guides, and teachers to me. I have not only never witnessed inappropriate behavior from them, sexually or otherwise, but I instead have been given the WORLD by them in terms of time, love, service, and so much more. It cannot be overstated: the secret to my success as a human being is 100% due to my work with the Modern Mystery School. Success in the LIGHT, not just in the human world. To me, people of course will say whatever they want to say. Yes, we are a school. We are a spiritual system and lineage. We charge money — although on average less than even most public, in-state COMMUNITY COLLEGES would cost, MUCH less that private colleges, and a lot less than even most of the advanced life and business coaching programs out there. I know many people in various personal development fields who spend and charge tens of thousands for personal growth work, seminars, coaching, packages, programs, mastermind groups, etc. Some people will always have a problem paying for things. To me, it's all about what do I value? What do you value? If you value something, you WILL find a way to pay for it. If you want to go to the best school, for the best education, you are going to pay money for it, that is just how this world operates. I have the equivalent of multiple PhDs in Metaphysics, which to me is way more valuable and not even as expensive as my Bachelor's Degree that I am still paying the last of my student loans for almost 18 years later! Not to mention that my B.A. from college was utterly useless in terms of any real life or job skills! Those who like to complain about that, you have my empathy, but empowerment is never free. I gift healing work regularly to clients in need, completely free of charge. But empowerment cannot be gifted. It must be earned through hard work. Knowing yourself is a journey that requires tremendous sacrifice, and honestly, we are lucky we live in a world where it is as accessible as it is. In ancient times it was secret and almost impossible to even find! For me, to be able to pay for the administrative structure to be available to humanity so we can all have access to sacred trainings with tools for how to know ourselves better is a no-brainer and a privilege I am grateful for. When I started this work I was making $9/hour as a florist. I saved my money and did what I could, and I made it work. Everyone has a unique situation, but nothing was handed to me on this path, I had to want it and I had to work for it. To me, this is part of the goodness of life — working hard and working smart for what I truly desire. The suggestion that I was brainwashed or lulled into spending my hard-earned money on a charlatan is basically just saying that everyone who does this is stupid. That's calling me and this incredible worldwide family of lightworkers — whom I know well and love, who have ALL seen amazing personal life transformations in every single aspect of their lives — it's calling us all STUPID, immature, and easily taken advantage of. Many people are not oriented to see a world of magick, creativity, enlightenment, and a tribe, a worldwide family of tens of thousands of initiates working toward a lofty goal of "world peace", and claiming to be from a spiritual lineage thousands of years old going back to King Salomon/Solomon and long before. When I was first initiated, that also sounded ridiculous to me. For the next five years, as I took classes and used this magick to create a better life step by step, in the image and ways that felt best to me, in the highest visions I could reach for for myself, I still doubted what was said about lineage and the "ancient-ness" of the work. I was highly skeptical. But I kept going because my life kept getting better. It was hard work to know myself and face the things within me that I had disowned, and learn to take real responsibility for how I felt, how I thought, how I used my energy, and what was really going on within me. It took a lot of trust. But those senior to me, guiding me in the school, always took a personal hand to assist me and help me, never telling me how to do my life, but only empowering me to ask my own questions, even when I wanted desperately for someone to "fix" my problems. Nobody in the Modern Mystery School ever "fixed" anything for me — I had to move beyond my own problems under my own power. But knowledge of self IS real power, and I was able to build an incredibly satisfying, joyful life of true service. A life where I KNOW for MYSELF every single day that I am making a difference. A life where I have huge passion for everything I do. And a life that stands as an example for many I have trained and assisted in their lives. I am only 40 years old, but I have already accomplished the joys of many lifetimes, and all in the last 10-11 years of taking the Modern Mystery School work really seriously in my life. So to those who like to cast stones, my only advice is to look within at the enemy. How would you like to feel in your life? For you will never feel good tearing down good people. The only way to joy is the inner landscapes of your True Self. The only right action is to Know that Self and do something Good with it in this world. I have immense gratitude toward this sacred lineage and School that I can truly call my spiritual home. If you read this far, you're also a cool person and probably have a good heart. Love you all, Jordan
